(In)equality in Social Protection: Multi-level Analysis of Intersectionality in Social Assistance Provision - A Comparative Study

European Policy Institute – Skopje, in partnership with Center for Social Research Analitika, is implementing the project  “(In)equality in Social Protection: Multi-level Analysis of Intersectionality in Social Assistance Provision - A Comparative Study“.

The aim of the research is to examine intersectionality in inequality, in relation to social protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia. The research will primarily focus on the analysis of public policies regulating the area of social assistance in relation to real needs of persons receiving social assistance. By analysing structural, symbolic and personal identity level, the research will identify whether, how and to what extent a miss-match exists between the real needs of these persons, the needs as identified in the public policies and those constructed and perceived in the society.

The research will yield a comparative study, academic paper and policy brief, which will identify key recommendations for the improvement of public policies in this area from the perspective of intersectionality. The research results will generate greater understanding of what the real challenges and inequalities for those receiving social assistance in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia are.
