The social protection system in BiH is still lacking adequate legislative and institutional framework, which results in inefficiency of the system, insufficient coverage and inequalities in distribution of social protection benefits. The situation in this field is particularly complex in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), in particular given its highly de-centralized social protection system and divided competences in the field of social protection between the FBiH and the ten cantons.
Project “Improving the System of Protection of Families with Children in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” is intended to enhance the policy debate and to improve and catalyze the policy-making process in the field of social protection, with particular focus on the system of protection and support for families with children in FBiH. The main product of this project is a policy analysis for the responsible ministry at the FBiH level, with a goal to provide an overview of the status, weaknesses and strengths of regulatory framework, and to propose possible avenues of policy reform in the area of protection of families with children in FBiH.
