With the recent amendments to the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination, the Law is now largely harmonized with European anti-discrimination standards. Nevertheless, the judges and courts are also expected to take into account the relevant jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights - as the key authority in determining the nature and content of fundamental rights in Europe - in the application of the mentioned Law and the procedures in specific cases. This is not an easy task even in less complex legal systems.
Center for Social Research - Analitika is organizing the conference “How to achieve better implementation of European anti-discrimination standards in BiH?”, which will be held on 19th of April 2017, from 10:30 to 15:00, at Hotel Bristol in Sarajevo.
The aim of this event is to reflect on the current jurisprudence in BiH, map the key challenges and thematise possible steps towards a more consistent application of European legal standards and incorporation of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights in the court proceedings in Bosnia and Herzegovina in this field.
The program of the event in local languages can be found HERE.
Conference is organized within the project: Conference is organized within the project: “Equality for All: Civil Society Coalition against Discrimination“. Project is implemented by Mediacentar Sarajevo, Analitika – Center for Social Research, Rights for All and Vaša prava BiH.
