Despite a number of initiatives that international donors and domestic institutions have undertaken in order to strengthen judicial capacities for fight against corruption, there is a general lack of research and reports on processing corruption offences in BiH. The issue is further complicated by the unevenness of statistics on the work of courts and prosecutors’ offices in this area and inconsistency in the use of proactive transparency of those institutions. 

Center for Social Research Analitika is organizing promotion of the pilot-report “Monitoring of the judicial response to corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which will take place on October 6th 2017, from 12:00 do 14:00 at the Hotel Courtyard by Marriott in Sarajevo. 

Promotion will be an opportunity to present and discuss the findings of the pilot-research, and present the comprehensive methodology for assessment and tracking of judicial response to corruption. 

Pilot-report is based on the results of the research that aimed to assess the overall quality of judicial response to corruption in BiH in a sistematic and methodologically rigorous way. For the pilot-phase of the research, the focus has been placed on the statistics, transparency of judicial and prosecutorial institutions, and quality of indictments and verdicts in corruption cases. Through a complementary insight into the case-law on corruption offences in BiH, the report enables a deeper and a more systematic comprehension of the challenges that the judicial system is facing in terms of processing corruption, particularly in relation to its own capacities to deal with such complex area. This initial publication is an introduction to a planned series of regular reports that will follow the trends in this area.
