Expert debate Importance and purpose of public procurement monitoring in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized by Center for Social Research Analitika will be held on 30th of May 2016 in Mostar.

Public sector is spending huge amount of budget on public procurement for different types of products, services and public works. At the same time, field of public procurement is affected by corruption and many ways of misuse which can cause destructive social and economic consequences such as high prices for low-quality procurement, procurement of services, products and works that are economically unwarranted or that are not based on real needs.

Therefore, existence of strong prevention and controlling mechanism is key factor in ensuring public procurement system is functioning properly and that it is of public interest.

Topic of this expert debate is importance, ways of implementation and effect of monitoring public procurement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Focus will be on discussion about range of aspects of monitoring public procurement in BiH and role that stakeholders from government and CSO's play in it.

Representatives of chamber of commerce, contracting authorities, public institutions that are in line of monitoring law implementation in this field as well as NGO representatives which focus is on public procurement will be present on this event.

Expert debate is organized within the project Open Public Procurement in Bosnia and Herzegovina jointly implemented by the Centre for Investigative Reporting (CIN)(link is external),  Analitika - Centre for Social Research, and the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (CPI(link is external)).
