Employment as a tool for preventing the "brain drain"?
At the thematic session on the emigration of the population, which was held on 22nd of March in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amar Numanović, a researcher at the Center for Social Research – Analitika, had the opportunity to hold a presentation before the parliamentarians. By approaching the problem of emigration from the perspective of employment policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he shared the alarming statistics on the departure of skilled labor and harmful consequences for the economy, discussed the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to attracting and retaining human capital, lack of adequate policies to prevent the outflow of skilled labor force, and concluded that it is necessary to establish a set of policies and measures to mitigate this trend, starting from labour market policies, educational policies, to creating a better environment for entrepreneurial development and prosperous industry.
