At the same time there is discussion about limitations of transparency caused by principal of business secret protection.

The study presents main discussions in this field, with the focus on the broader importance on ensuring transparency of contracts in public procurement. Focus is given to international standards about announcing contracts on public procurement emphasizing relevant EU directives, as well as comparative experiences of member states which are recognized as examples of good practices, with special focus on countries from the region that joined the EU (Croatia and Slovenia).
